I got this book after I read case studies on Yahoo Pipes by Tony loton. I am building a project on Mashups and wanted to learn about Mashups. This book helped me to start from scratch and build my understanding on Yahoo Pipes.
Loton pdf books are cheap option to buy, It is a quick electronic delivery of pdf's same day, rather waiting for 15-20 days for your books to arrive.
 A great introduction May 13, 2010

I'm an IT professional with zero experience in web development so was looking for something to get me up to speed quickly with Yahoo Pipes. If only I'd found this book before I'd struggled for hours to make sense of Pipes. Anyway, fortunately I did find it and it proved to be a very helpful grounding on the subject, and fairly easy to work through.
My only criticism would be the lack of an explanation of what I'd call the "magic" fields that do things in Pipes, such as title and description. I guess these are standard generic fields that exist in many data feeds but it was all new to me so I found it puzzling how Pipes recognised some fields and apparently ignored others. However, you soon work out what these fields are and what they do so it's not a big problem, and there are many online examples that reinforce what you learn in the book.
